Whilst looking for stuff to amuse the kids at Grandma’s house recently, we came across this amazing 1960s (I’m guessing) Super Snap! set by Galt Toys. The Galt company had a very long-standing relationship with groovy design legend Ken Garland, so I wonder if this is one of his. I think the brutal modernism of the outer box feels quite Garland-esque but the lovely illustrations on the cards themselves perhaps feel a bit too whimsical.

Blimey…. I’m sure I remember this from my psychedelic early 70′s childhood! Could be wrong (it was a very long time ago) but there’s something about the hedgehog, the bed and the tiger that seem very familiar in a nostalgically comforting kinda way…
Ah, came across your site looking for Galt stuff … yo uare ringht about the inside illustrations. Quite a few of them are by Kenneth Townsend http://www.kenneth-townsend.co.uk/pages/games.html
Lucky you to have found this and in such good nick! They go for a lot on ebay …
I adore this. I actually stumbled across it on your site whilst looking to purchase this. I check weekly, if not daily.
I would love to purchase it if you could bear to part with it?

Hi Lucy Retro… not really in a position to sell as the set belongs to the mother-in-law I’m afraid. Hopefully another one will turn up soon!
